La Folle Journée de Nantes will be held from May 28 to 30 in a suitable form

The classical music festival will offer 24 concerts, compared to the usual 300. The 9,300 tickets - compared to more than 100,000 usually - will go on sale on the festival site on May 21 at 6 p.m.


The 27th edition of the classical music festival La Folle Journée will be held from May 28 to 30, in Nantes, in an artistic form adapted to health constraints, announced Wednesday 12 but its organizers.

“Music will be able to come back to life and the public will vibrate with the musicians.

The festival, initially planned for January around Russian music and postponed due to the health crisis, will finally have as its theme “Light and Grace, Bach and Mozart”.

"I made a first program in January at 150 concerts, a second in April with 70 concerts and this one with 24 concerts"

, explained René Martin, adding that

"Russian music required large musical groups which were not not adapted to health constraints ”

, which is why he opted for Bach and Mozart, whose works can be played by a smaller number of musicians.

This atypical edition will offer 24 concerts - against 300 for the previous editions - taking place in three different places.

The 9,300 tickets, against more than 100,000 usually, will go on sale on the website of the Folle Journée on May 21 at 6 p.m., at prices ranging from five to twenty-five euros.

It will not be possible to combine more than six concerts and take more than four tickets for the same concert.

The program of those taking place outside, called at Le Gré des vents, is kept secret to play the effect of surprise.

“As there are very few concerts this year, I have only chosen emblematic works

said René Martin, citing Bach's Magnificat or Mozart's sonata n ° 13.

The festival will give pride of place to

"correspondence between masters and young musicians"

, like, among the pianists, the father-son duo Bruno and Paolo Rigutto or Anne Queffélec and her son Gaspard Dehaene.

Violinist Renaud Capuçon, clarinetist Raphaël Sévère and pianists Claire Désert or Emmanuel Strosser are among the artists of this edition, which will welcome two female conductors, Claire Gibault and Glass Marcano.

The edition La Folle jour en région will be held from May 27 to June 6, in 17 municipalities, and plans to welcome around 25,000 spectators.
