Pandemic?
What kind of pandemic?
Thousands of young people celebrated in the evening in downtown Barcelona.
It was the first full weekend after the lifting of the national emergency, which was accompanied by significant easing.
However, mass gatherings like this are still prohibited in Spain.
And so the motto "party until the police arrive" became a reality late in the evening.
Original sound from Ricardo Salas, Barcelona police
"We sent about 1,000 people away on Lluis Companys Promenade, with the help of the regional police. On the beach there were 2,000-2,500 people, some of whom did not comply with the distance rules or health regulations."
These images prove what is happening - the incidence in Spain is currently only a little below that in Germany.
The entire region of Catalonia with its capital Barcelona recorded around 15,000 new infections in the past two weeks.
The vaccination rate is also below that in Germany.
On the other hand, things were comparatively civilized at the weekend on the beach of Ostia, a suburb of Rome.
In Italy, too, easing applies, here too the pandemic is on the decline and beach life is returning - but the party beasts apparently stayed at home.
And also in Poland the weekend brought the lifting of corona measures - restaurants and pubs have at least been allowed to reopen their outdoor areas since Friday midnight.
Zuzia Mockallo, bar owner
"It took a long time. We were closed for more than 200 days. It was very stressful and tiring for many reasons. We didn't know if we would get through it. Fortunately, thanks to the help of various people and institutions, we made it."
At the beginning of April, Poland had daily case numbers of more than 30,000 with only a good 37 million inhabitants.
Then, however, the infection curve dropped steeply - to the last less than 3,000 cases a day.
