Weeks is just the time to try the healthiest diet there is

Shavuot is considered a holiday of cheeses and sweets, but the truth is that the harvest holiday is just the time to try a low-sugar, high-carb diet.

A big salad, a cheese platter and a glass of white wine will convince you that we are right

This is supposed to be a vegetable holiday, not a dairy holiday.

In Israel as in Israel, every holiday and its tradition of meals.

Food is the center of family and friends' meetings, and people who want to practice a healthy diet always get stressed: "But there is a holiday, and the food is so delicious, how can I succeed?".

Certainly it is possible to succeed.

Because practicing a balanced and healthy diet is suitable for all days of the year, for every holiday, date and meeting, as long as we know how to choose the food that enters our mouth and do not eat on a vending machine.

Shavuot, which is the "white holiday" has also become a holiday whose diet focuses on dairy products, but the truth is that this holiday allows wonderful meals where you can celebrate with all your might the holiday of agriculture and all the goodness of the field and orchard, and practice a low-sugar and carbohydrate diet.

This holiday can definitely be dedicated to a natural meal, full of vegetables and color, that does not feel like compromise.

More vegetables, less carbs

If you stop for a moment to think about what you eat during the day, you will probably find that your diet is mainly based on different types of carbohydrates and foods that have added sugar.

In an age where there is so much talk about sensitivity to one food or another, we have forgotten that the problem of the global diet is overeating carbohydrates and excessive consumption of added sugar.

So, it's time to sober up, figure out what a carb is, how to reduce it and eat more protein and fat (yes, not be afraid of them as we have been taught for years) and start reading a list of ingredients to figure out where the added sugar is hiding and how to choose otherwise.

When you do this, and find that you can live without sugar, you will find that you also balance blood sugar levels, lose weight, improve blood fat levels, improve skin appearance and energy and more.

Much closer to how nature wanted us to eat.

It sounds complex, but it is entirely possible, and weeks are a great time to start the change.

Basing a meal first and foremost on vegetables automatically ensures, almost always, eating less processed and industrialized food and much closer to how nature wanted us to eat.

Admittedly, vegetables are also carbohydrates, but the dramatic difference between vegetable glucose and other foods is the fact that the vegetable comes with a great deal of dietary fiber.

That is, the body works hard to break down this sugar found in vegetables and therefore allows for slower absorption of blood sugar.

Vegetables of course also have a beauty of vitamins.

Did you know that pepper, for example, has no less vitamin C than orange and much less sugar?

This alone is a great reason to eat them and preferably from all the available colors.

And in the nutritional sciences and the medical world they already know how to point out the virtues of vegetables by their color.

A truly proper dish will be a happy and colorful dish, meaning varied in all the staples and varied in all the vegetable colors there are.

Weekly meals, a little different

At Shavuot, vegetables do not have to star only in salads, and they are also wonderful in sautéing, cooking and frying.

They are great in a fresh and raw way, great in a patty or in a pie and a long stew in the oven.

If you are vegan you can make a table based on legume dishes, lentil salads, stir-fried tofu and many types of vegetables in salads or as an antipasti.

Good cheeses really do not need bread.

If you still want dairy products in your meal, there are no wonderful vegetable pies that combine good goat cheeses without a dough bottom, oven-baked salmon trays with olive oil and lemon, various vegetable-based salads, antipasti, quinoa with orange lentils and a cheese tray of various types in the center The table.

Ripe and good cheeses are not meant to be spread on bread but to be eaten that way, as they are with a glass of white and dry wine.

What needs more than that?

A low-sugar, low-carb lifestyle is easy to practice anywhere and anytime as long as you learn how to look at food a little differently.

This year instead of celebrating in white you will celebrate colorful, with lots of vegetables and no sugar.
