The soldier and his wife had been separated for a year, but they continued to live in the same house.

According to the judicial investigation, the discussion began around 1 on Saturday, in a house in the San Cayetano neighborhood, where they lived.

The 49-year-old woman called 911. She asked for help because her husband had threatened them with a knife and

said he was going to kill himself

.

The man was drunk, according to the wife's account to the police.

Suspecting that they would come to arrest him, Gallardo got into his Fiat Toro truck and sped off.

In a few minutes, a police cell phone began to chase him and managed to locate the military's truck on Route 92.

Finally, the man collided with a tower - a medieval-type structure that served as a defense in castles - on the route and the intersection of La Superiora street.

Due to the impact, the soldier was imprisoned in the vehicle.

It was necessary the intervention of volunteer firefighters and personnel of the Coordinated Emergency Service (SEC) to be able to remove him from the truck and transfer him to a hospital.

Gallardo was admitted to the Scaravelli hospital in Tunuyán, 30 minutes from the site of the accident.

Immediately, he was referred to the operating room due to the severity of the fractures and blows from the violent collision with the cement structure.

Despite medical efforts, he died in the early hours of this Sunday.

Meanwhile, his wife and 25-year-old daughter were unharmed.

The judicial investigation was in charge of the San Carlos Fiscal Office.
