(ANSA-AFP) - ROME, MAY 17 - Independent candidates and left-wing parties are leading the race to be part of the new Chilean Constituent Assembly called to rewrite the fundamental charter, the first after the fall of Pinochet in 1990.
With just over half of the votes scrutinized after two days of consultations, the right-wing in power garnered only 21.37% of the votes, compared to 33.19% of candidates aligned with left parties. The rest went to independent candidates. These indications will be confirmed, the right will not have the ability to control the decisions of the Constituent Assembly, composed of 155 representatives and the Constitution will be completely rewritten.
