Hearing problems for Italians: the estimate is equal to 12.1% of the population, about 7 million people with hearing loss, with a significant differentiation between age groups and a significant increase with aging - with a percentage of 50% among the over 80.

In Italy, assuming a trend similar to that expected for Europe, a number of people with self-diagnosed hearing loss can be expected for 2025 to be just over 8 million and for 2050 the 10 and 11 million people.

Globally, there are already 1.5 billion hearing impaired people today. Nearly 2.5 billion people worldwide, or one in four, will have hearing problems by 2050 and at least 700 million of these will need treatment and rehabilitation. And even the hearing of the youngest is at risk, in fact, more than one billion young people between the ages of 12 and 35 are at risk of hearing damage due to uncontrolled exposure to sources of excessive noise, including music that is listen in headphones. Today there is a 4.8% increase in hearing loss. Due to the aging of the global population and the increase in noise pollution, we estimate an increase in the incidence of 7 to 10% until 2030. For this reason theinformation and prevention are even more important to reduce this forecast. Starting from these considerations on Monday 17 at 3 pm during an ANSA-Incontra, the theme of this widespread disability which at various levels limits the lives of many people, possible prevention and the possibility of intervention in the light of new research.
