The renewed promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga will probably remain in dull memories for Dynamo Dresden.

Already during the third division game against Türkgücü Munich (4-0) there were riots between fans and the police outside the stadium.

Now the police have presented a balance sheet of the large-scale operation.

Accordingly, a total of 185 police officers were injured, eleven of them so seriously that they had to be treated in hospital.

Six police officers are still in clinics, according to the police, 30 officers are currently unable to perform their duties.

Rescue workers called out an alarm condition

There were also injuries among the fans.

As the fire brigade announced on Monday, the alarm level MANV1 had to be called during the deployment of rescue workers.

The abbreviation stands for "mass casualty".

A total of 44 people were given medical care and the majority of them had to be taken to surrounding hospitals.

During the operation, the rescuers were also "insulted and verbally threatened by rioters," it said. In addition to numerous emergency services from several fire and rescue stations from the professional fire brigade, the German Red Cross, the Maltese emergency service and a senior emergency doctor were also on duty. Journalists were also attacked in the vicinity of the stadium. Dresden's police chief Jörg Kubiessa spoke of "terrifying scenes".

Since no spectators were allowed to enter the stadium for the last home game of the Dresdeners due to the corona pandemic, around 4,000 fans had gathered in the large garden opposite.

During the game, hundreds of violent dynamo supporters attacked the police with pyrotechnics as well as throwing bottles and stones.

The police responded and used water cannons and irritant gas.

A total of about 1,100 officers were on duty.

Mayor Hilbert condemns violence

"Even if we are all happy about the rise of Dynamo Dresden: The violence at the stadium against the emergency services is not acceptable," said Mayor Dirk Hilbert (FDP).

"I very much hope that the club will actively deal with these events and be able to provide answers and concepts by the beginning of the season in League 2," said Hilbert.

There is a lot to work on after the police operation, Dynamo tweeted on Sunday.

When asked by SPIEGEL, there was initially no statement about the incidents from Schwarz-Gelben Hilfe, an association that also provides legal support to Dynamo fans after police operations.

On Twitter, the fan help initially only called for no pictures from Sunday to be uploaded or shared.
