(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 17 - There were at least 55 attacks launched this night by Israel on the Gaza Strip, according to witnesses and journalists on the ground heard by al Jazeera.
Bombardments "heavier, over a wider area and lasted longer" than yesterday's raids, in which 42 Palestinians were killed.
According to the Al Jazeera correspondent, there was barely "an hour of peace" as Israeli drones "flew overhead, controlling the skies."
Among the objectives, several basic military and security in the Palestinian territory, but also some deserted areas east of Gaza City.
A four-story building in the city was also bombed, but early reports indicate that the building had been evacuated prior to the attack.
There are currently no reports of victims.
Meanwhile, Palestine organizations have launched a global initiative to dedicate Tuesday to demonstrations of solidarity around the world.
