The Amazon or the lost paradise of Sebastiao Salgado

2021-05-19T10:51:29.302Z

INTERVIEW - The Brazilian photographer transforms the Philharmonie de Paris into a jungle of images and sounds. Meeting with a convinced ecologist who rejects the “cancel culture”.

Sebastiao Salgado is nature exploding with beauty before your eyes.

At the Philharmonie de Paris, his “Amazônia” is perhaps even more fascinating than his previous cycles.

Both its forests embroidered like tapestries, its landscapes of almost atomic clouds, its rivers floating in the air saturated with water, its cliffs surrounded by jungle are striking.

The scenography of his wife Lélia Wanick Salgado immerses the visitor in a forest of images.

The art of chiaroscuro gives portraits of Indians who seem to play on the stage at the Opera.

Maybe not a coincidence.

At 77, the Brazilian photographer dreams of a closer trip: to immerse himself in the world of the Paris Opera.
