»Abizeneca: Still approved in the end«

2021-05-20T12:40:19.149Z

A school in Bavaria has young people vaccinated against Corona, the teachers' association is hoping for normal everyday school life after the summer holidays, and the kids don't know enough about taxes and loans.

»Not without my team (s)«, »Abi alone at home«, »ABiontech«, »Abizeneca: In the end it was still approved«, »Our school was closed more often than we were« - with these slogans high school graduates say to the ( digital) classrooms will soon be goodbye forever.

And all the other students don't have far to go to the finish line either: only five weeks to go before the summer holidays begin in the first federal states - the end of what is probably the craziest school year in decades.

But will everything then be the same as it used to be?

The incidence values are falling, face-to-face teaching is increasing again, and young people aged 16 and over will soon be able to be vaccinated.

At least the teachers' association is optimistic.

("This is the matter")

.

The pupils will certainly have to catch up in the new school year.

There is a problem not only in German and maths, but also in economics

(»good to know«).

It will probably only become apparent in the new school year where the gaps are greatest.

With two billion euros, the federal government wants to cushion the consequences of the months-long school closings for children and young people.

But criticism is already raining.

The German teachers' association believes that the package of measures is inadequate.

The Association of Education and Upbringing (VBE) speaks of an "oath of disclosure of failed personnel policy".

Parents and students fear that the money will never reach them.

With these prospects, some people are already wishing that the summer vacation would never end.

Get through the time well.

That's going on

1. Vaccination at school

On Friday, schoolchildren from the age of 16 can get vaccinated against the corona virus at a grammar school in Planegg near Munich. This is possibly the first school in Germany to offer such an offer. "I am really happy to be able to pass this offer on to you, as it is a further step towards normality," the headmaster wrote in a letter to the parents, as reported by the "Süddeutsche Zeitung".

Vaccination is voluntary and free of charge, parents must consent.

The doctors who vaccinated the students had already looked after all endangered patients in their own practice, the headmaster assured the parents in an email.

"It was important to me that neither teachers nor students take a vaccination away from someone who really needs one for health reasons, but at the same time I am of the opinion that young people in particular urgently need more freedom."

2. Everything as before?

If more and more people are vaccinated and also parts of the student body, will everything soon be the same as it was before Corona?

The President of the German Teachers' Association, Heinz-Peter Meidinger, firmly believes in it.

After the summer vacation, pupils could return to normal classes, he told the »world«.

"I expect that the third wave will not be followed by a fourth and that the next school year will be able to start the next school year with a sustained drop in incidences and further vaccination advances."

3. After school is before work

Helene Flachsenberg is good at painting, and as a child it was always clear to her what she wanted to become - a painter.

But "the older I got and the more I learned about the world of work, the harder life seemed to me as an artist," she writes.

How should you choose your profession?

She wonders that and gives an answer here.

What else?

In

Bavaria

, three young people have let themselves be locked in the school building.

During the night they played hide and seek in their school in Neu-Ulm, the police said.

Residents suspected someone had broken into and alerted the police.

The officers found the three students between the ages of 17 and 19.

They were charged with trespassing and violating the night curfew.

In

Lower Saxony

, pupils from the Hanover region called on the Minister of Education, Grant Hendrik Tonne, to forego exams and classwork for the time being.

According to an open letter, teachers should impart knowledge rather than review performance.

In

Brandenburg

, a teacher with Nazi tattoos was legally dismissed.

The state labor court of Berlin-Brandenburg declared the termination to be effective last week.

The tattoos suggested a "lack of constitutionality".

Good to know

Schoolchildren in Germany lack basic knowledge of economics.

Most young people hardly know anything about taxes, insurance or loans.

Nor do they understand economic and political contexts.

This is shown by a study by the Institute for Economic Education at the University of Oldenburg, on which the »Welt« reports.

Accordingly, the deficits are greatest at grammar schools.

In contrast to other subjects such as biology or geography, there is no uniform subject of economics nationwide.

Every federal state decides for itself where economic education is to be located, reports Die Welt.

The spectrum ranges from world studies to geography or community studies to economics, social sciences and work studies.
