She let a fraudster pay her for internal information: a former Berlin police officer and the notorious fraudster Peter Mike Wappler were convicted by the Hamburg district court.

He is scheduled to jail for four years and three months for bribery, and she was given an eighteen-month suspended sentence for bribery.

Both confessed to the allegations.

Between February 2018 and April 2019, the officer requested data from the police information system for Wappler and passed them on to the now 65-year-old.

Billion Mike's criminal record is long.

The fraudster, best known by his nickname, was convicted of stolen goods and fraud, among other things.

Most recently, he posed as a debt collector - and illegally collected hundreds of thousands of euros.

It is incomprehensible that the officer got involved with the fraudster, said the presiding judge Ulrike Schönfelder.

How it came about, the 45-year-old explained in court: Due to her gambling addiction, she was in financial distress after the birth of her second child.

In her desperation, she wrote to around 50 celebrities on Facebook and asked for financial help.

Then she received an offer from the co-defendant.

"I couldn't believe it, it was such a happy moment," said the defendant.

When asked by the presiding judge, she admitted that she knew about the criminal career of her alleged patron.

Nevertheless, she met the man in a Berlin luxury hotel.

In court, the ex-policewoman said she had been persuaded by Wappler to have sex in the hotel with the prospect of 100,000 euros.

However, she never received the money.

The officer therefore spoke of "physical and mental rape with consent".

The woman said tearfully, "I lost pride and dignity in one day."

He called her "little mouse"

"Billion Mike" did not deny that he cheated on the woman.

"I wanted to fool her a little bit, it wasn't more," he said.

However, a deal came about as he occasionally needed police records.

According to the indictment of "little mice," as he called her, he repeatedly wanted to know "whether he was clean."

The officer checked the police system and answered "Miki".

According to Judge Schönfelder, Peter Wappler has already spent 28 years of his life behind bars.

He has also not yet paid his last fine.

But the 65-year-old firmly rejected this and asserted that he could prove the payment.

As part of a criminal case in 2019, the investigators had come across his contacts with the police officer, as a court spokesman said.

The officer fell for a completely dubious story, said Judge Schönfelder.

The defendant believed she would get 100,000 euros for a meeting in a hotel room.

Then she put her entire professional existence at risk for a "ridiculous 500 euros".

It is correct that she quit the police service on her own initiative.

"We can't use police officers like you in our state," said the judge.

The verdict is not yet legally binding.
