The affected Continental and General Tire tires can suddenly lose air.

Hanover - The auto supplier Continental has initiated an exchange program for car tires of the Continental and General Tire brands.

822 tires are affected by the recall.

The company said in a press release that four of these 822 tires could have a manufacturing defect.

The affected tires could experience sudden air loss or belt edge separation, which could result in partial or total loss of the tread.

Continental has not received any reports of accidents or injuries that can be traced back to this defect.

Continental and General Tire recall tires: exchange program in several European countries

The exchange program is carried out in Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Spain and the Netherlands. The affected tires were produced at the company's plant in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and sold in the European tire replacement market. The Continental Corporation has already informed the local authorities about the details of the voluntary replacement of the tires.

In addition, the company is in contact with the relevant dealers to support the notification of affected customers.

"Customers who have bought these tires or vehicles equipped with these tires will be notified directly and promptly, as far as possible, and informed about the details of the voluntary exchange program," says Continental.

Like the carmaker, the supplier Continental is benefiting from the recovery of the corona-plagued industry in 2020.
