(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 19 - France presented a resolution to the UN that aims at a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, in coordination with Egypt and Jordan.
Elysée makes it known.
The proposal arrives at the Security Council where the US has blocked a declaration on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for eight days.
The Chinese ambassador to the UN, Zhang Jun, said he had heard of the proposal and that "Cinala certainly supports" the efforts to put an end to the crisis.
The French president, Emmanuel Macron, "attended a trilateral meeting with the Egyptian president Al Sisi and the king of Jordan" in which it was decided to "launch a humanitarian initiative for the civilian population of Gaza in connection with the United Nations". Elysée sources made it known tonight. French sources stressed that Egypt and Jordan "are currently at peace with Israel and are influential protagonists in the holy places for Jordan and on Gaza for the Egyptians". The three governments have "agreed on three simple elements: cessation of rocket launches, ceasefire and resolution of the UN Security Council" on the issue. (HANDLE).
