The fact market has undergone far-reaching changes in the last year of the Corona, which admittedly included more work from home, but probably also the addition of more working hours.

And now it turns out that the habit of working into the night has a heavy health cost.

A report by the World Health Organization (WHO) released earlier this week found that long working hours kill hundreds of thousands of people a year.

The first global report of its kind showed that 745,000 people died in 2016 of stroke and heart disease due to long working hours.

The report found that people living in Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific were the most affected.

According to the report, working 55 hours or more a week was associated with a 35 percent higher risk of stroke and a 17 percent risk of dying from heart disease, compared to a 35 to 40 hour work week.

The World Health Organization also said the trend could worsen due to and after the change in the labor market in Corona.

The study, conducted with the International Labor Organization (ILO), also showed that nearly three-quarters of those who died as a result of long-term work were middle-aged men or adults.

Often, deaths occurred much later in life, sometimes decades later.

Not only did the doctors work too many hours this year.

Although the World Health Organization study did not cover the Corona period, World Health Organization officials said the recent rise in long-distance work and the economic slowdown may increase the risks involved in long working hours.

"There is some evidence to show that when countries go through closures, the number of working hours increases by about 10 percent," the World Health Organization said.

The researchers said there are two ways long working hours have led to poor health outcomes: first is through physiological responses that come directly from stress, and second, to survive longer working hours, workers are more likely to adopt unhealthy behaviors like tobacco and alcohol use, less sleep and activity Physically, and an unhealthy diet.

In 2019, the World Health Organization added the attrition that people experience at work, at least in part, to the list of common health problems.

Work attrition, or "occupational stress," was first included in the International Classification of Diseases and is now a legitimate medical diagnosis.

Israel, by the way, has more employees than other Western countries, and according to OECD data, Israel is ranked seventh in the ranking, due to an average work week of 40.6 hours.

It also shows that during the year, Israelis work an average of 1,910 hours (which places the country in seventh place in this ranking as well), and 15.4 percent work over 50 hours a week.

At the same time, the average Israeli worker spends 13.4 hours a day outside the office, which also includes sleep.
