Flight number 915 of the American airline JetBlue, which departed from New York for San Francisco, had to change lanes and land earlier, in Minneapolis, after one of the passengers refused to wear a mask, harassed a passenger sitting next to him, hit flight attendants and polled the branch. One of the passengers, Matt Kawashima, uploaded to Twitter a video in which the captain stood in the cabin and told those present about the chain of events.

The captain added that "we asked him several times to wear a mask. He resisted and started harassing other passengers, and made stabbing gestures towards one of them. The captain said that on one of the occasions when the passenger inspected the toilets, the crew members lifted his food tray, and under it they found a bag containing white material. In light of all this, the decision was made to change the flight path, land at the nearest airport - in this case, Minneapolis - and transfer the passenger to the authorities.
Airport website Paddle Your Own Kanoo reports that in addition to criminal charges, the passenger is expected to be questioned by the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which takes a zero-tolerance approach toward passengers who refuse to wear a mask while flying. In the United States, it is mandatory to wear a mask on an airplane at least until next September, whether the passengers are vaccinated or not.
