The bestselling author John le Carré, who died around five months ago, left a novel that is now to be published posthumously.
"Silverview" should appear in October, announced the Viking publishing house on Wednesday in New York.
"The book is full, forensic, lyrical and wild - it's a great and fitting final book," le Carré's son Nick Cornwell was quoted as saying.
Le Carré, whose real name was David Cornwell, died in mid-December at the age of 89.
Shortly before his death, the British-born author had taken citizenship of the EU member Ireland out of anger over Brexit.
With the spy thriller »The Spy Who Came in from the Cold«, le Carré had made a breakthrough in the 1960s.
A good two dozen other books followed.
He was also regarded as a keen observer of social developments, who often commented on world events.
Le Carré last lived in seclusion with his second wife Jane in London and Cornwall, where he died in December last year.
A few years ago he said: “I feel ready to die.” And further: “If it were to be over very soon, I would feel nothing but gratitude.
It would be a sin not to be grateful for a life like mine. "
