According to the vice president of the Superior Council of the Judiciary 'we need a dry repudiation of careerism: it has generated wicked pacts and arbitrary evaluations' (ANSA)

"We all feel the urgency of an incisive reform intervention which, safeguarding and, if possible, strengthening the dignity and authority of the CSM as a constitutional body, removes on the one hand the risk of distorting practices in the appointment and evaluation mechanisms anchoring them in a definitive way to merit and abilities and on the other hand promotes participation and representation that are not conditioned by personal ties or logic of alignment ". This was stated by the vice president of the CSM David Ermini in his greeting address to the course of the Higher School of the Judiciary dedicated to the ethics of the magistrate.

A concept clarified even shortly before, during the plenum of the CSM which unanimously approved the financial statement on management for 2020, closed again this time, especially due to the pandemic that limited activities, with a substantial administrative surplus, which added to that of previous years reaches 17 million euros. "We are all waiting for Parliament to complete the reform of the CSM and at that moment, in a short time, we will be called to modify both the accounting regulations and the internal regulations, on the basis of the changes that parliament will approve", Ermini said, according to which it is also "urgent that the judiciary as a whole be able to grasp this sad situation in order to regenerate itself deeply".

"We need a courageous cultural renewal - he explained -, we need the dry repudiation of careerism and current methods, above all we need to rediscover a strong ethical charge that is worth regaining trust and legitimacy in the general interest". The vice president of the CSM indicates in "immoderate careerism" the "real evil that is polluting the credibility of the judiciary".

"A career that - he said in his greeting to a course on the ethics of the magistrate organized by the School of the Judiciary - has generated nefarious pacts, arbitrary evaluations, lumps of convenience. current conspiracies, if not (even worse) in internal clientelist fractions. And above all by transforming independence and autonomy in the eyes of public opinion, cornerstones of the balance between powers and guarantee of protection of rights, into a hateful and unjustified privilege ".
