An armed man shot two people in Dänischenhagen near Kiel and then fled.

At first there was a suspicion of a rampage.

However, this was not confirmed.

The police were called to a semi-detached house in a residential area on Wednesday at around 11 a.m. for multiple shots.

The emergency services found two dead people.

According to the first police reports, it was a man and a woman.

Various cartridge cases lay on the floor.

According to the information, nothing is known about the background to the crime.

As the police and public prosecutor in Kiel announced, the alleged perpetrator apparently took a car to the nearby state capital.

The police are on site with a large number.

The perpetrator apparently still armed

The emergency services sealed off the Kiel brewery district after the perpetrator's vehicle was allegedly seen there, as a spokeswoman for the state police office said.

So far, however, the suspect has not been caught.

At the moment one has to assume that the perpetrator is still armed.

According to the police, there were no indications of a possible rampage.

"There is currently no evidence that it could be a rampage," said the police and the public prosecutor.

In a tweet from the Kiel city administration, there was initially a "suspicion" of a rampage.

Citizens along some streets have been asked to stay in their homes.
