Sony would like to raise its sales targets for its latest game console, but it will not be easy to achieve. Because the Playstation 5 is and will be sold out in many places. The goals of manufacturer Sony are nevertheless ambitious: According to the international news channel group Bloomberg, the group wants to sell at least 14.8 million consoles in the current financial year.
As of March 31, 2021, according to a Sony publication, 7.8 million PS5 consoles had been sold.
If Sony reaches its sales target, the console would compete with the popular PlayStation 4, of which more than 115.9 million units have been sold to date, according to Bloomberg.
But Sony has been struggling to keep up with the strong demand for PS5 from customers * - since its release in November 2020. The main reason the company cites bottlenecks in the supply of components such as semiconductors.
According to Sony, it has not yet been possible to estimate when the supply will return to normal.
