Rome: Gelmini, now has adequate powers, ad hoc commission

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 19 - "The city does not enjoy adequate powers for the role it must play. The time has come to recognize them also in Rome, as happens in Berlin, Madrid, Brussels. It was established at the regional affairs ministry a study commission to analyze the scenarios of the reform of the Rome Capital system starting from the impressive activity carried out by the Chambers ". Thus the Minister of Regional Affairs Mariastella Gelmini at the question time: "We do not intend to replace parliamentary activity but support it. The first act of the commission will be to establish a channel of contact with Parliament, the Lazio Region and the Municipality". The commission, explained the minister, is "coordinated by Professor Francesco Saverio Marini, eminent scholars are part of it".
