For 4 servings you need:

  • 1 can of chickpeas (425 g), roasted and drained

  • 1 tbsp tahini

  • 3 tablespoons of Greek yogurt (vegan) or vegan mayonnaise

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or agave syrup

  • 15 g diced red onion

  • 4 spring onions, thinly sliced

  • 25 g diced celery

  • 35 g diced pickles

  • 1-2 teaspoons capers, drained and chopped

  • 1 pinch of sea salt

  • 1 pinch of black pepper

  • 1 tbsp roasted sunflower or pumpkin seeds (optional)

  • Lemon juice (optional)

Recipe for tuna salad without fish: How to make the vegan version

  • Put the chickpeas in a mixing bowl and mash them with a fork.

    Leave just a few peas whole.

  • Add tahini, mayonnaise or Greek yogurt, mustard, maple syrup, red onion, spring onion, celery, pickled cucumber, capers, salt, pepper and sunflower seeds (if used).

    Mix everything well.

  • Try and season to taste, for example with a splash of lemon juice.

    If the mixture is too dry, you can add another tablespoon of Greek yogurt.
