If you don't wait for your old age pension and want to enjoy your retirement earlier, you should know the following clause, because it requires permission from your employer.
Do you decide when to retire? Not always. Because there are cases in which the boss actually has a say. One thing in advance:
As a rule, the employer does not have to approve it if you want to retire early.
"In order to be able to retire in Germany, the employer does not have to agree," quotes the portal t-online Katja Braubach from the German Pension Insurance (DRV). There is one exception, however.
If something else is contractually agreed, the employer may have to agree to an earlier retirement *.
In some cases there are also collective bargaining agreements.
"With these, an employment relationship can automatically end when the regular retirement age is reached," says Braubach.
In any case, it is important
to take
a look at the employment contract
before you deal with the subject of pensions.
In general, according to Braubach, it is advisable to involve the employer: it is best to inform him as early as possible when you want to retire.
In this way, the employer can prepare for it and make it possible for your successor to get on the job well.

Those who want to retire earlier have to expect a discount
Those who retire earlier no longer have the full pension entitlement.
It says on the website of the German Pension Insurance: “
If you claim a pension before the raised age limit, which is relevant for you, you have to expect a discount
.
The discount is 0.3 percent per month of early use and 3.6 percent per year ”.
Important to know: The pension reduced by the deduction will remain in place until the end of your life, so the pension will not be topped up again when you reach the regular old-age pension.
In order to receive a pension, the pension application must be
submitted to
your responsible pension insurance agency
about three months before you plan to
retire
,
explains pension expert Braubach.
