The 'queen trial' of DNA 'is the only one actually exhausted' according to the lawyers of the man, sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of the thirteen-year-old. The Bergamo Assize Court reserved the right to decide (ANSA)

Trace 31 G20, which represents the 'queen trial' in the trial that led to the conviction of Massimo Bossetti for the murder of Yara Gambirasio, "is perhaps the only trace that is actually exhausted, according to the statements of the consultants at the time".

This was explained by Bossetti's lawyers who still ask to be able to examine all the other finds that the Prosecutor would have defined as "scartini" as - they reported - "of secondary or no importance".

Bossetti, convicted definitively for the murder of the thirteen-year-old, asks the Assize Court of Bergamo that "first of all legality be restored", as stated by one of his lawyers, Paolo Camporini, upon his arrival in court in Bergamo , where the defense's request to have access to the findings of the case is discussed.

Human advocates have long argued that the DNA test, the so-called "queen test" in the process, can be redone.

The judges reserved the right to decide on the defense request.

Bossetti's lawyers spoke of a "heated confrontation" in the courtroom and said that the Prosecutor's Office defined the findings other than the 31G 20 trace as "scraps", with the DNA found on the girl's leggings considered the 'queen test' in the trial.

Yara Gambirasio had disappeared from Brembate di Sopra, in the province of Bergamo on 26 November 2010 and was found dead in a field in Chignolo d'Isola, a few kilometers away, three months later. It was only in June 2014 that Bossetti, a bricklayer from Mapello, a town in the district, was identified as a possible perpetrator of the crime. The man was sentenced to life imprisonment and the sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court.
