The Eurovision Song Contest always has many dramatic and bizarre moments to offer - the return of the competition after a one-year Corona forced break was no exception.
In addition to the close race for first place, there was a lot more to talk about at the show on Saturday evening in Rotterdam, the Netherlands - the 65th edition of the competition:
Drug rumors
Damiano David, singer of the Italian winning band Maneskin, was forced to vehemently reject speculation that he had used drugs while the show was running.
They came up after videos on online networks showed how he was hanging over a table at the ESC celebration.
"I do not do drugs.
Please guys.
Doesn't really say something like that, no cocaine, ”David said at the press conference after the ESC final.
The allegedly compromising pictures were taken when he bent down because Maneskin guitarist Thomas Raggi had dropped a glass.
Maneskin later stated on the online network Instagram that the entire band was ready for a drug test, "because we have nothing to hide."
Peace Sign or Stinky Finger?
The appearance of the German candidate Jendrik also caused confusion - albeit for completely different reasons.
"There is a middle finger dancing?!?" Asked viewers on Twitter.
Actually, at Jendrik's colorful show, a woman was dancing in a costume in the form of a peace sign, i.e. a hand with an extended index and middle finger.
Since the index finger of the costume fell down from time to time while dancing, only the middle finger remained - and formed a contrast to Jendrik's good-humored appearance with the song "I Don't Feel Hate".
