Strange but effective.

The human mind is one of the greatest mysteries in existence, and the way it controls us without us knowing is no less amazing and mysterious.

If you believe this study it is sometimes also very strange.

Researchers at the University of Westminster believe they may have found a way to fulfill for people who run one of the biggest wishes - to run faster.

And how do they do it?

By changing the color of their drinks.

It turns out that pink drinks can affect the brain, and maybe even the legs, much more than you can imagine.

But how exactly does it work?

I'm just asking: what do energy drinks contain and are they dangerous?

The study, published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition, is the first of its kind to evaluate the effect of beverage color on running performance and provides potential for future research in the field of sports drinks and exercise.

The study included a total of ten volunteers (6 men and 4 women) who were regularly healthy and active, who performed three runs, one experimental run and then two 30-minute runs on the treadmill at the speed of their choice.

During each run, participants rinsed their mouths (yes, yes) with a low-calorie artificial sweetened beverage that was clear or pink in color.

Each participant chose his or her own running pace and was required to maintain it throughout the run.

The researchers found that the pink drink increased exercise performance by 4.4 percent and could also boost mood and reduce difficulty in running.

The results also showed that participants ran 212 meters on average more with the pink drink.

A very simple way to improve running.

The two drinks as mentioned were completely identical and just looked different - the researchers added food coloring to the pink drink to change its color.

The researchers chose pink as it is associated with the perception of sweetness and therefore increases expectations from sugar and carbohydrate intake.

Due to the small size of the study, future research is needed to determine whether the placebo effect that results from it causes a similar activation in the reward areas in the brain that are usually reported when drinking beverages that contain sugar.
