Sold as NFT, this true 2000s Internet classic, showing a young child biting his older brother on the finger, was released.

A record auction before the removal of the platforms.

As announced a few days ago by the parents of little ones Harry and Charlie Davies-Carr, who have since grown up, the famous video "Charlie bit my finger" has been sold and will therefore be deleted in its original version from YouTube, 14 years after it went live.

Purchased for $ 760,999 this Sunday (or 624,000 euros) as a non-fungible token (NFT), it will now be up to its new owner to do what he wants "with this adorable part of the history of the Internet", as called him the Davies-Carr family, to do with it what it's worth. Viewed 883 million times since it was posted on YouTube in 2007, the video has obviously since been copied and multicast, making it impossible to apply the concept of exclusive property.

But whatever, this 55-second sequence is now a classic on the Web and therefore comes at a very high price.

And this charming family video, showing a British child named Harry holding his little brother Charlie has therefore turned into a cult scene, as Harry puts his index finger in the mouth of his little brother who, to his surprise, bites him. : "Ouch, Charlie", "Charlie, that really hurts", a reaction that has therefore become cult.

The madness of the NFTs

So much so that the auction attracted bids from 11 accounts and sparked a battle between users "mememaster" and "3fmusic", the latter having finally won.

And while the idea of buying something endlessly reproducible like this video may confuse some, the sale illustrates the growing appetite for NFTs, making it possible to acquire certified moose from a virtual item.

The first memories of the Internet, including memes, GIFs, photos or videos that have become famous, have recently been bought at a high price.

In March, Twitter boss Jack Dorsey sold his first tweet, dating from 2006 (saying "I just set up my twitter") for $ 2.9 million to a Malaysian-based businessman.

Likewise, an anonymous buyer bought Nyan Cat, a 10-year-old animation showing a flying rainbow cat with a poptart body, for $ 590,000 the previous month.
