On the third day of the new confinement decreed to contain the second wave of the pandemic, the Government confirmed
22,651 new cases and another 417 deaths
from coronavirus in Argentina.
This was reported by the Ministry of Health in the daily part published this afternoon, based on data provided by the provinces in the last 24 hours.
A worrying trend is that for the 17th consecutive day the number of critically ill patients admitted to intensive care increased again.
This Monday there are 6,373, almost 700 more than a week ago.
The occupation of critical beds for all pathologies is located at
73.9%
at the national level and at
76.2%
in the AMBA.
In this way, the country has
3,562,135 infected
since the beginning of the global health crisis and exceeds
74,480 deaths
from covid-19.
The rate of infections accelerated - first in the AMBA and then in the Interior - due to the impact of the second wave and the incidence of new variants of the virus, mainly that of Manaus, the United Kingdom and the Andean one.

Last week the 30,000 daily cases were exceeded for the first time and on Wednesday a new record of

The day before, the peak of deaths for one day had been reached: 745 (the majority, 488, in Buenos Aires).
Argentina is today the
third country
with the highest number of new infections in the world.
In the last 7 days - between Monday 17 and Sunday 23 -, the average per day was

, the highest in the entire pandemic.
This figure is only surpassed by India (255,283) and Brazil (65,145).
In fourth place was the United States (25,270), which until the end of last week registered more cases than our country.

It is only surpassed by India, Brazil and the United States.

from the United States
