Those vaccinated with Sputnik V will also not be able to enter France

This was reported by a French government official. Neither can those who received the Sinopharm. Spain had already announced the same measure last week.

France joined in the last hours a measure that Spain had adopted and will not allow those vaccinated with Sputnik V against the coronavirus to enter its territory, French authorities reported.

The French Secretary of State for European Affairs, Clément Beaune, said on Monday that only

"vaccines authorized by the European Medicines Agency"

will be recognized by the European health pass that is expected to be implemented from July 1.

"It is ruled out that he travels to France with a vaccine whose protection we are not sure of," said Beaune, interviewed by the

BFMTV

channel

, referring to the Russian vaccine and also the Chinese Sinopharm.

"

The vaccine in this case will not be enough

, whether it comes from China, Chile or Hungary ... Because we want to be sure that people who come to France are well protected," he added.

Last Friday, Spain announced that it will open its borders from June 7 to travelers from all countries that have the complete vaccination schedule against the coronavirus.

But the Argentines who received the two doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine will not be able to travel, for now.

That decision goes hand in hand with the one agreed by the European Union, which plans to install an exclusive passport to transit through its territory.

This European Covid certificate, which will allow free movement between EU countries despite the pandemic,

will come into effect on July 1

.

It will be for those who test negative for PCR or antigens, for those who are immune after suffering the disease or for those who are already vaccinated with the full dose against Covid-19.

However, not all vaccines used in the world will qualify for the certificate.

All EU countries accept the four vaccines approved by the bloc:

Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson

The European authorities said that this list could be expanded as the EMA and the WHO authorize more vaccines.

But it is not clear yet when that will happen.

Then, it will be the decision of each country to accept those vaccinated with Sputnik or with another formula.

France has already warned that it will reject those who are inoculated with these drugs and thus added to what has already been agreed by Spain.

But unlike France, Spain announced that it would admit those vaccinated with Chinese formulas such as Sinovac (which is applied mainly in Chile) or Sinopharm (it is applied mainly in Argentina and Brazil), since although they were not homologated by the European agency EMA,

yes they were for the WHO

.

This EU measure came hand in hand with the position of opening its borders to tourists in the coming weeks.

The condition is that they have completed the vaccination cycle, with two doses in almost all existing vaccines, at least

fourteen days before

their trip to Europe.

The health passport will be applied in 30 countries (the 27 of the EU, plus Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein), although the European Union is in talks with other countries such as Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States, and also with international organizations such as the WHO and air transport associations for reciprocal recognition.

With information from agencies.
