A flight attendant of the American airline Southwest Airlines was attacked last weekend by a passenger, and as a result, two of her teeth were broken. According to a letter sent by the Association of flight attendants in the United States to the CEO of the airline, demanding to increase safeguards stewards and stewardesses.

"Last weekend, one of the stewardesses of our being attacked hard, impairing her face and lost two teeth," says her letter to Lynn Montgomery, President of the Union. "Unfortunately, this is just one of many occurrences. I turn to you because it can no longer be tolerated and the crew members must be put to an end. "

According to the union, between April 8 and May 15 this year, the airline recorded no less than 477 incidents in which passengers behaved inappropriately towards crew members. "This unprecedented number of incidents has reached an unbearable level, with cases of non-compliance also becoming more aggressive," Montgomery said.

"Combination with alcohol increases risk"

USA Today reports that an airline spokesman confirmed that a passenger was physically assaulted by a flight attendant on flight number 700 from Sacramento to San Diego, California. "The passenger repeatedly ignored the standard instructions on the flight, and verbally and physically harmed it, upon landing," a company spokesman told reporters. He said, "Law enforcement officials were asked to arrive on the plane upon landing, and the passenger was taken into custody. We will not pass in silence and will not tolerate cases of verbal or physical harm to our air crews, who are responsible for the safety of our passengers."

According to the union, during this period there has been an increase in such cases, many of them due to the instructions to wear a mask at all times of the flight. "The flight attendants are trying to enforce the regulations, but they need the backing of the airline management when things get out of hand. This is especially true when serving alcohol on the flight, which may only intensify the already tense situation."

Since the beginning of the year, about 2,500 cases of inappropriate behavior on the part of passengers have been reported in the United States, including 1,900 cases in which passengers refused to wear a mask during the flight.

To date, passengers in the United States have been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars.
