(ANSA) - TURIN, 25 MAY - "The awakening has started, the child's response is positive. He begins to give the first signs of awakening with coughing and some moments of spontaneous breathing. But in precautionary terms we are going with more calm and attention precisely because the child's situation is critical, although we have positive signs ". Thus the general director of the City of Health Giovanni La Valle, after the Eitan, the five-year-old child, the only survivor of the Stresa-Mottarone cable car ascent, was awakened from the coma induced by the doctors of the Regina Margherita hospital in Turin where he is hospitalized.
"The clinical situation remains critical and the prognosis remains reserved. The child is still intubated. If we continue in this way and it remains stable, the hope is that we will be able to stub him tomorrow morning. We proceed with caution because the overall situation of polytrauma makes the attention to evolution even more attentive and shrewd awakening ", adds Giovanni La Valle.
"At this moment we are more concerned about the eventual complications not related to the neurological system that we have verified that it is intact, but those that could arise from the polytrauma - continues La Valle - Let's not forget that two days ago he was operated on to stabilize the fractures and that at this moment we are keeping sedated and stabilized from the hemodynamic point of view ".
Eitan therefore remains hospitalized in intensive care followed by the director of the department Giorgio Ivani and his team. (HANDLE).
