"Even in the early stages of the pandemic, a significant proportion of citizens continued to express
a positive opinion on their personal life. The opinion on the personal economic situation remained positive for the majority of people, but worsened among the self-employed
".
This was noted by Istat in the report 'Citizens' satisfaction with living conditions' on 2020
, highlighting however that "signs of criticality emerge for the family economic situation", which worsens for almost one in three families: "it has risen since 25, 7% to 29.1% the share of families who declare a worsening compared to 2019 ".
Despite the increase in the perception of a deterioration,
in 2020 66% of households assess the economic resources available to them as adequate to their needs
(64.9% in 2019). "The share of families who consider their resources excellent or adequate goes from 60.4% in 2019 to 61.7% in 2020 in the South, from 65.2% to 66.3% in the Center and from 67.8% to 68.7% in the North ". Furthermore, in the initial phase of the pandemic, the substantial stability of the judgments of the adequacy of family economic resources - observes Istat - was accompanied by a substantial stability in the share of families who consider the resources available to be scarce or insufficient, with the exception of the South (38.3% compared to 39.5% in 2019).
