US actor Chris Noth returns in front of the camera in his role from the series "Sex and the City".
The streaming service HBO Max announced that Noth will star in the planned series "And Just Like That" as Mr. Big.
"How could we ever do a new chapter in the Sex And The City story without our Mr. Big?" Said producer Michael Patrick King.
The announcement should come as a surprise to some fans: A few days ago the tabloid "New York Post" reported that Chris Noth would not be there for the upcoming sequel.
Previously, actress Kim Cattrall had already canceled her work in the role of Samantha Jones, one of the main characters.
In January, HBO Max announced the new edition of the series around a New York group of women - with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis as leading actresses and executive producers on board.
Parker re-plays relationship columnist Carrie Bradshaw, Davis Charlotte York and Cynthia Nixon plays lawyer Miranda Hobbes.
The revival is supposed to show the life of the three friends over 50.
Ten half-hour episodes are planned, with shooting starting in the summer.
As Mr. Big, Noth embodied the great love of Carrie Bradshaw in the original (from 1998 to 2004), with many ups and downs. He also took on this role in the two films for the series (2008 and 2010).
Noth is also known for the series "Criminal Intent", "Good Wife" and "The Equalizer".
Today, Mr. Big is also viewed critically as a cliché male figure who has not been available for a long time and who at times takes away a lot of her sovereignty from the self-confident Carrie.
