As reported by the

Cordoba Ministry of Health

in its daily report, a

nine-month-old baby

with coronavirus

died

this Wednesday after being hospitalized with pneumonia.

According to El Doce, the baby, who was a native of Villa Icho Cruz, a town located in the department of Punilla, suffered from a

brain disease

and had been admitted to the Children's Hospital after contracting

pneumonia

.

"This patient dies from a disease associated with Covid,

we cannot say that he died from Covid

.

He is a nine-month-old patient with a chronic base pathology, who presented a tracheostomy ”, explained Pía Zamarbide, the head of the medical center's Guard.

Although it cannot be said that his death was a consequence of Covid-19, the baby was one of the 22 fatalities reported by the provincial Ministry of Health on Wednesday.

In the rest of the cases, there were seven men between 61 and 87 years old, and 14 women between 48 and 88 years old.

All these fatal victims of the virus "were hospitalized and

had previous pathologies

," as stated in the document.

In this way, the total number of deaths from coronavirus amounts to

3,760 in the province

, while

those infected are 291,863

since the beginning of the pandemic.

The antecedent: an 18-day-old baby

To find a

history of such an early death

with coronavirus in the country, we must go back to a little more than two weeks ago, also in Córdoba.

Last Monday, May 10, a

newborn baby

who had Covid-19 died in the Villa Dolores provincial hospital, in the Traslasierra Valley.

With

only 18 days

, she was taken to the medical center during the early morning of the previous day by her mother, since she had health problems.

After carrying out the corresponding tests, it was determined that both the woman and her daughter had coronavirus.

Her condition was serious, so the pediatricians and the staff of the neonatology service who intervened

could not do anything

to save the little girl's life.

Meanwhile, the hospital filed a complaint and the 2nd Nomination Prosecutor's Office took charge of the case, seeking to

clarify the reason for the

baby's

death

.

As explained by the director of the health center, Juan Uez, in dialogue with ElDoce.tv, "you have to see if he died

with Covid or Covid,

which are two very different things."

"Justice is intervening, because the circumstances of this situation

were not clear

and, as a professional, we had to report so that the corresponding investigation could be carried out," he added.
