Bayreuth - In a vaccination center in the Upper Franconian city of Bayreuth, several corona vaccine doses were apparently too much diluted.

Around 600 affected people are therefore now being offered a blood sample.

According to a spokesman for the Bayreuth District Office, it cannot be ruled out that numerous people have received an insufficient vaccination dose of the active ingredient "Comirnaty" from the manufacturer Biontech / Pfizer.

During a daily check-up, this possible deviation from the norm was finally noticed, the spokesman told the German press agency.

Corona vaccination in Bayreuth: Too much dilution of the active ingredient cannot be ruled out

There are six out of 581 vaccinations in which an excessive dilution cannot be ruled out. In the free blood draws, which are planned for the first weekend in June, the antibodies of the vaccinated against corona are now to be measured. "As a result, it can be determined which vaccinees have been given the dose that may have been overly diluted," says an official press release from the Bayreuth district. These people should then be given a new vaccination appointment immediately. However, health consequences could be ruled out.

The vaccinated persons affected should be able to decide for themselves whether to accept the offer to take a blood sample. Those people who do not want to take advantage of this will receive the second corona vaccination as planned. In this case, the date remains unchanged. (Alina Schröder)
