Mountaineer Tsang Yin Hung from Hong Kong conquered Mount Everest in less than 26 hours - setting a new record among female alpinists.

The 44-year-old climbed the mountain, which is more than 8,800 meters high, on Sunday in a record time of 25 hours and 50 minutes, as a Nepalese government representative said.

The fastest woman to date on the highest peak in the world had taken more than 39 hours.

Tsang left Everest base camp at 1:20 p.m. on Saturday and reached the summit at 3:10 p.m. the following day, the government official said.

According to the information, it was the third time that the climber climbed Mount Everest.

However, the best time is not yet officially recognized as a world record: For this, the mountaineer has to submit her values to the Guinness World Records.

The Nepalese government certifies that mountaineers have reached the summit, but does not issue certificates for records.
