Transgender model Alex Mariah Peter is “Germany's Next Top Model”.
The 23-year-old student from Cologne was named the winner of Heidi Klum's casting show on Thursday evening.
For the second year in a row, the finale of the ProSieben broadcast took place under Corona conditions without an audience.
Fans, friends and family of the candidates were connected via video chat.
Curvy model Dasha landed in second place.
Soulin, who was previously a favorite for many viewers, came in third.
"Diversity" was the motto of the GNTM season this year.
That's why women made it into the final this year who might not have made it into the finals before: a curvier model, a transgender model or a woman who, at under 1.70 meters, is actually too short for the business.
Half-naked women demonstrated against the show
Shortly before the final, some activists demonstrated half-naked in front of the ProSieben headquarters in Unterföhring near Munich against the show and what they saw as an ideal of beauty that prevailed there.
"Even with normal and female bodies you can stand in front of the camera and show yourself in society," said the meeting leader.
From the perspective of transgender model Lucy Hellenbrecht, however, ProSieben has not promised too much this season with the diversity motto: »I, like probably everyone, had concerns at the beginning when I heard that the season should be so diverse and at the end but only the "standard models" remain, "said the former GNTM candidate to the news portal watson.
"But that's not the case, so it's really very cool that Heidi Klum didn't promise too much with her announcement."
