On the sixth day of the confinement imposed to contain the
second wave
of the pandemic, Argentina
for the first time exceeded 40 thousand
daily
infections
of coronavirus.
This Thursday the Government confirmed
41,080 new cases
.
In addition, another
551 deaths
were reported
.
This new record of positives exceeds the peak that had been registered on Wednesday of last week, with 39,652.
Almost
38%
of the new infected are from the Province of Buenos Aires, which this Thursday reached its historical maximum:
15,550
.
Thus, it surpassed the 15,166 registered on April 16.
In this way, the country registers
3,663,215 infected
since the beginning of the global health crisis.
Thus, it surpassed Spain and ranks as the
10th country
with the highest number of accumulated cases globally.
Coronavirus controls continue in Mendoza, amid the rise in cases due to the second wave.

There are currently
367,606 people suffering from

According to the report published by the Ministry of Health - based on data provided by the provinces in the last 24 hours - there are

Córdoba again broke its
record of infections
reported in a single day.
There were 4,933 (registers 296,829 since the beginning of the pandemic), only surpassed by the 15,550 of the Province of Buenos Aires (1,567,821 in total).
The previous Cordoba peak had occurred on Wednesday, with 4,523 infections.
Regarding the new record in Buenos Aires, the Minister of Health Daniel Gollán affirmed that the figure is "worrying", but clarified that "the 2 holidays caused
the load to be delayed and today it was updated
", so the 15,550 reflects the impact of outdated data.
There were eight provinces that
exceeded a thousand cases
this Thursday.
In addition to Buenos Aires and Córdoba, they did Santa Fe (3,542 - 333,246), City of Buenos Aires (3,093 - 409,035), Tucumán (2,206 - 126,366), Entre Ríos (1,353 - 81,675), Formosa (1,104 - 26,646) and Mendoza (1,103-117,641).

They were followed by Mendoza (42), Córdoba (41), the City of Buenos Aires (39), Formosa (29), Río Negro (22), Entre Ríos (21), Neuquén (16), Salta (12), Tucumán ( 11) and La Pampa (10).

Eight provinces registered less than a dozen deaths from covid: Chaco (9), San Juan (9), San Luis (9), Misiones (8), Santiago del Estero (8), Catamarca (7), Chubut (3) and La Rioja (2).
New Sinopharm
Hours before the release of the new report, official sources confirmed to
Clarín
that the Government reached a new agreement with Sinopharm by which it would receive
six million doses
of the formula developed by that Chinese laboratory.
As they specified, the first two million doses will arrive in June, while the remaining four million will be received in July.
So far, the country received 4 million vaccines of this brand.
This is in addition to the announcement made on Wednesday by the Chief of Staff, Santiago Cafiero, who reported that
an agreement was closed with the Chinese laboratory CanSino Biologics
, whose anticovid vaccine is applied in a single dose.
It is a formula that has not yet been approved by the Anmat.
The country received a total of
15,483,345 doses
against covid-19, of which 2,785,200 arrived between Sunday and Wednesday (1,080,000 from Sputnik V on two flights, 861,600 Astrazeneca from the COVAX mechanism also on two aircraft and 843,600 of the Astrazeneca-Oxford agreement).

Now the delivery of another 800 thousand AstraZeneca vaccines by Mexico is expected for the weekend, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard anticipated on Tuesday.
