A manufacturer recalls its olives because of “microbial and substantial” discrepancies.

The Federal Office warns against consumption.

Braunschweig - The manufacturer Ciloglu Handels GmbH is recalling its black olives with stones.

The product could have “microbial and substantial deviations” and was therefore not suitable for consumption.

Affected are the black olives with the article designation DUBLE SELE ZEYTIN PET 9X700GR, the article number 0120503 and the best before date 11/25/2022.

The barcode of the product has the number 8697436546404 and the batch concerned is 415. The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety has been warning against consumption since Thursday (May 27).

Recall: This is how customers return affected products

In the event of a product recall, consumers can usually return the affected item to the manufacturing company and receive the purchase price back.

This also applies in the case of Ciloglu Handels GmbH.

Returning the item to where you bought it is often the easiest way.

A receipt is not required to get the full purchase price back.

Why are there product recalls?

Product recalls in the food sector are currently at an all-time high.

This is shown by an analysis by the Federal Office on its portal

Lebensmittelwarnung.de:

Food safety in Germany is very high and strict rules apply.

The reference to “microbial deviations” indicates that this could possibly be one of the most common reasons for a recall in the food sector: microbiological contamination such as germs, viruses or bacteria.

The second most common reason is contamination of the food with foreign bodies, as in the case of Erhardt's table horseradish, which became known recently.
