Sat.1 does not broadcast any further episodes of the program "Suddenly poor, suddenly rich".

It ended with "immediate effect," said the broadcaster on Twitter - and admitted that "errors happened" in one episode in the series.

In the TV format, rich and poor families swap their living conditions for a week each.

In the episode in question of the social experiment, which is now not being broadcast, the candidate Matthias Distel, known as pop singer Ikke Hüftgold, should have swapped home and everyday life with a mother and her children.

However, Distel had stopped filming and a few days ago publicly accused the creators of the show in a statement on his website for "unscrupulous quota hunting".

"The welfare of two severely traumatized children was trampled on by the responsible media outlets," said Distel.

Sat.1 now stated that the processing of the last shoot of the show had not yet been completed internally.

“But there is no question that mistakes have occurred here, for which we apologize from the public and the family.” In addition, the station “came to the conclusion that this program no longer fits Sat.1, that we want to develop further together with and for our viewers (...).

Therefore there will be no new episodes.

That's why we won't show filmed episodes. "

The top priority for Sat.1 is the well-being of the children and the family, with whom one is in close contact.

"Even in the months ahead of us, we will support the family financially and humanely in the best possible way," wrote the broadcaster.

"It was and never is the goal of Sat.1 to hurt people."

The production company Imago TV, which produces the format for the station, also commented on the case again: “We particularly regret that a family involved in the filming was drawn into the public dispute.

We are still in contact with the family and especially wish the children that they hear as little of these arguments as possible. «

Among other things, Distel asked the question: “Whether you can legally and morally draw children aged eight and ten who obviously have psychological problems into a television format that works eight days in a row for up to ten hours should be."
