With the start of the general certificate exams, the feelings of tension and anxiety among students increase, and while their degree varies from one student to another, experts say that parents have a key role in alleviating these feelings, which may affect their results.

The educational and psychological specialist Sanaa Minas explained to SANA that feelings of anxiety and tension during exams differ from one student to another, depending on the nature of the person, the way he was raised, and the amount of attention given to him by the parents, indicating that the symptoms of stress appear in many forms, including excessive sweating, abdominal pain and loss of appetite.

Mansha warns that the responsibility that parents bear for their children increases their feelings of tension and fear of not being able to fulfill their parents' hopes, and a sense of discomfort that reaches the point of not concentrating on the exam.

The educational specialist recommends the necessity of providing a comfortable atmosphere inside the home that reflects positively on the psyche of the student, and the chanting of motivational phrases by the parents, such as “We know you can” and “You are able and I trust you” to enhance his self-confidence and reduce his tension.

She advises the students’ families, especially mothers, not to show their tension that is transmitted to their children, and that their expectations are commensurate with the students’ abilities and intelligence ratios, and not to impose a specific specialization on them, and to leave the freedom of choice to them according to their inclinations and interests, because desire has a role in excellence as well.

The specialist called on the students to sleep early and not to read the course of the subject directly before entering the exam hall because the modern information cancels the old and not to read the questions at once because it increases fear and tension and creates a kind of confusion between the information.
