Various scientific researches in the fields of environment, energy, health, medicine, soil sciences, plants, genetics, biotechnology and food were reviewed and discussed by the participants in the Fourth Virtual International Scientific Conference for Sustainable Development and the Prospects for Its Realization in the Middle East, which was organized by the Iraqi Environmental and Agricultural Palm Organization in cooperation with several Syrian research and academic bodies.

Researcher Dr. Yanal al-Qudsi, the Arab and International General Coordinator of the conference, confirmed in a statement to SANA that the three-day conference, which concluded last night, aims to open the door for cooperation to implement Arab and international research projects that help advance the agricultural, health, environmental and medical reality, especially in the circumstances of the crisis and to publish the results of scientific research Participation in the conference and competition of these researches for Arab and international research to be published later in international refereed journals.

Dr. Magda Mufleh, Director General of the General Authority for Scientific Agricultural Research, pointed out the importance of the conference in light of the challenges the world is facing, especially developing societies, such as the steady increase in population, increase in food consumption and expansion of industrial production, which requires a trend in agriculture towards a new concept of sustainability.

For his part, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdeen, President of Damascus University, stressed in a speech delivered by Dr. Boutros Hallaq, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, that the research in which Damascus University participates varied between environmental research, energy, nanotechnology research, health and medical research, plant research and soil science, in addition to genetics, biotechnology and food science research.

Dr. Maysoon Dashash, director of the medical education program at the Syrian Virtual University, indicated that this participation is the first for the program that was established at the Syrian Virtual University to qualify teaching and medical training cadres in Syrian universities.

Dr. Shadi Khatib, head of the Syrian Scientific Society of Medicinal Herbs, Complementary Medicine and Nutrition, pointed out the necessity of coordinating the efforts of Arab researchers in the field of sustainable development.

In turn, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Gharibi, Head of the Syrian Nanotechnology Initiative Unit, indicated that the unit participated in six scientific research under two main goals of sustainable development goals: health and energy. The participations are to localize nanotechnology and address epidemics such as Leishmania and the Corona virus, as well as improving the yield of pigment and silicon solar cells, improving the thermal conductivity of nanomaterials and producing Energy through nanogenerators.

For her part, Dr. Shahrazad Muhammad Al-Shadeedi, President and founder of the Iraqi Palm Environmental and Agricultural Organization, praised the level of Syrian research presented at the conference in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development, whether in supporting agricultural production or supporting the field of energy and environment, as well as the fields of modern technologies such as nanotechnology, food science and health sciences, expressing her hope that Holding scientific conferences and similar seminars on Syrian soil during the coming period.

The conference concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants and the announcement of the winning research papers in the conference.
