A threshold is crossed.
Public Health France counted, this Sunday, 2,993 patients hospitalized in critical care following a Covid-19 infection, against 3,028 on Saturday, and 3,515 last Sunday.
In total, 16,775 patients are treated at the hospital, against 16,847 on Saturday, and 19,720 last Sunday.
44 additional deaths have been counted in hospital in the past 24 hours.
Regarding contamination, 8,541 new cases have been detected in the past 24 hours, against 10,675 on Saturday, and 9,704 last Sunday.
Two "crucial" weeks to come
Despite this dynamic of decline, the figure of 10,000 new daily cases of contamination "is not sufficient" to rule out the specter of a fourth wave, estimates in the JDD Arnaud Fontanet, epidemiologist at the Pasteur Institute.
For that, "the next fortnight will be crucial", he warns, calling on the French not to relax the barrier gestures, especially indoors where the risk of contamination is higher.
On Monday, vaccination will be open to all adults, the government's goal being to reach 30 million first-time vaccines by June 15.
According to a new report from the Directorate General of Health on Sunday, 25,431,357 people received an injection (i.e. 38% of the total population and 48.4% of the adult population) and 10,777,150 people received two injections ( i.e. 16.1% of the total population and 20.5% of the adult population).
