Unions still skeptical about the financing of complementary health insurance

By 2026, public employers will pay 50% of the mutual fund for all employees, but without benefiting from additional credits.


It has been in effect since February 18.

The order provided for by the 2019 Civil Service Transformation Law was published in

the Official Journal

, and the 5.6 million civil servants will now benefit from financial assistance from their employer to ultimately finance half of their complementary health insurance.

For Amélie de Monchalin, the Minister of the Public Service, it was a question of correcting a major injustice suffered by civil servants, who, unlike employees in the private sector, did not have this support.

The announcement was also rather well received by the unions of the public service.

Even Jean-Marc Canon, at the CGT, had recognized that it was going in the right direction.

Many officials had in fact given up on their mutual insurance fund, which had become too expensive.
