There are two applications for the successor to Thomas Bellut as ZDF director.
The head of the ARD capital studio in Berlin, Tina Hassel, and ZDF program director Norbert Himmler are standing for election to the television council, as the ZDF announced.
There are no other candidates so far.
An election date has not yet been set.
On June 15, the expanded presidium wants to invite both candidates and decide whether the election can take place on July 2 as planned because of the corona pandemic.
A prerequisite for this would be a face-to-face meeting of the television council.
Tina Hassel has been editor-in-chief and studio manager of the ARD capital studio since 2015.
Before that she was the director of the ARD studio in Washington.
Norbert Himmler is currently program manager at ZDF.
He was already under discussion as a possible candidate in March: His contract will end in March 2022.
Bellut is stepping down on March 15, 2022 after ten years in office.
In March 2021, the 66-year-old announced that he would not apply for a third term.
The artistic director is elected by the television council for a period of five years.
