Not all employees can count on it.
As a recently published survey showed,
less than half of the employees (46 percent) in the German private sector receive
vacation pay.
And the
chances of that are anything but evenly distributed
, as the WSI tariff archive of the union-related Hans Böckler Foundation on Friday (May 28) based on an online survey of more than 57,000 employees according to the German Press Agency (dpa) also announced.
Survey: Not even half of the employees get vacation pay
On average,
49 percent of men, but only 41 percent of women, received vacation pay

And, as reported by dpa on the occasion of the online survey: Those who work in West Germany have a significantly greater chance of receiving a subsidy for the holiday fund than an employee in the East.
The size of the company and the question of collective bargaining coverage also played a decisive role in the prospect of holiday pay.

"For the analysis, the information from more than 57,000 employees from the period from the beginning of May 2020 to the end of April 2021 was evaluated," it says there.
The survey is not representative, writes dpa, but according to the WSI it provides a reliable guide due to the high number of cases.

Collective vacation pay is very different
Most industries have stipulated the subsidy in their collective agreements, as

“The value ranges from 155 to around 2,500 euros.
The vacation pay is one of the highest for workers in the printing, metal and insurance industries, ”the report says.
Employees in agriculture and in the hotel and restaurant industry performed rather poorly.
