The Morgenpost.de reports.
Until now, users could only use their Whatsapp account on one smartphone or tablet at the same time.
Anyone who logged in on another device was automatically logged out on the previous device.

Thanks to the planned innovation, WhatsApp users should be able to use their account on up to four devices at the same time.
"It was a great technical challenge to synchronize all messages and content of a user across multiple devices, even if the battery is empty on one of them," said Facebook boss Zuckerberg.
Whatsapp has been working on the multi-device function for more than two years
This problem has now been solved.
The online portal Wabetinfo had already reported before the official announcement that users could link up to four devices to their account via the linked devices function.
Whatsapp has been working on the now planned multi-device function for over two years.

According to Facebook boss Zuckerberg, WhatsApp users do not have to worry about privacy: the new update does not change the end-to-end encryption of chats.
This function is retained.
It is not yet known when exactly the new update for the multi-device function will come.
At Whatsapp there was one U-turn after the next
Initially, Cathcart announced the launch of a beta version within the next two months.
If the test phase is successful, the WhatsApp update could then be introduced worldwide.
A U-turn after the next: months ago Whatsapp announced a compulsory update.
Then the group rowed back, which was followed by the next turn at Whatsapp *.
