In many regions it remains dry, others have to prepare for violent storms: The German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of severe thunderstorms from the North Sea to Saxony and Eastern Bavaria for Saturday evening.

Parts of the federal states of Bavaria, Thuringia, Saxony, Hesse, Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt are affected, as the meteorologists in Offenbach announced.

There was a risk of local lightning damage, flooding of cellars and streets as well as hail damage to buildings, cars and fields.

Some storm-like thunderstorms are possible until late at night, said a DWD meteorologist.

The situation can therefore also change regionally, so that in the meantime warnings for certain areas are lifted again or new ones are issued.

On Friday there were hundreds of missions nationwide due to severe storm damage.

In Hesse cellars were full, in North Rhine-Westphalia a child was seriously injured as a result of lightning, and a construction worker died in Stuttgart.

Outlook for Sunday

The weather remains inconsistent on Sunday as well.

According to the DWD, showers and thunderstorms are expected in a strip from Schleswig-Holstein to the Alps, locally there is a risk of heavy rain.

In the east, however, it stays bright to sunny.

The daily highs in the east are 24 to 28 degrees, otherwise 18 to 24 degrees.

Showers are still expected at the beginning of the week, and in many places it will remain cloudy.

West of the Rhine, the outlook is friendlier.
