(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 06 - Twenty people were killed by militaries in Burma who yesterday attacked a village seeking weapons. The Guardian reports it citing local agencies Khit Thit Media and Delta News Agency. If confirmed, the death toll would be one of the most serious in the past two months.
The clashes broke out at dawn in the village of Hlayswe, 150 km north-west of Rangoon. According to a resident, the inhabitants defended themselves from the military invasion "only with crossbows and catapults". State TV MRTV spoke of "3 terrorists killed and 2 arrested" in an army operation to foil a "plot against the state". (HANDLE).
