The Consortium for the Protection of Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO celebrates 40 years since its foundation, and celebrates the anniversary with a full program of initiatives.
It was July 13, 1981 when a group of far-sighted entrepreneurs decided to join forces and aim at safeguarding and promoting what has now become one of the symbolic products of Made in Italy. Forty years later, the processing method has not changed, and thanks to technological innovation, quality standards have been raised and logistics have been improved, so, from a local product, the Bufala Campana has become a world phenomenon, embodying the lifestyle Italian, made of taste and pleasure. In 2020, 50,176 tons of DOP branded mozzarella were produced and exports reached a share of 37%, led by France, Germany and Spain, but with emerging markets such as China and Japan, where the first effects of the agreements are felt of international protection.
"In 40 years of activity, the Consortium has promoted an iconic brand that has also been able to tell the evolution of our country, combining tradition and modernity", declares the president Domenico Raimondo. In addition to the Consortium's birthday, next 12 June also marks the 25th anniversary of the recognition of the DOP brand for buffalo mozzarella from Campania. A double anniversary that will be celebrated by the Consortium with a real calendar of events both live and on social networks. Conferences, contests and digital initiatives are scheduled. (HANDLE).
