The situation for elderly people in Italy - in the age group 75 and over - is worrying due to the lack of social support, the need for support, unfavorable housing conditions, difficult economic conditions: Istat notes in the report on 'Gli elderly people and their social and health demands'.
The study shows that out of a reference population of about 6.9 million over 75, over 2.7 million individuals have severe motor difficulties, comorbidities, impaired autonomy in daily personal care activities.
Among these 1.2 million cannot count on adequate help.
